Shore power charging battery in "use/"store" position

Have a 2000 36' Damon Intruder, F53 chassis , Ford 6.8 - Stored outdoors in New England ( real cold ,20 degrees) have it plugged into 20 amp household outlet ,running a 30' 30 amp extension cord. House batteries are 2 ,6 volts .
Question is when hooked up to shore power do batteries charge, does it make a difference if coach battery switch is in "use" or store position ?

Easy way to check would be to hook a multitester across battery terminals. If the on board converter/charger is hooked up when the switch is in the 'store' position, the meter should read over 12.6 v. If not, turn switch to 'Use' position and try again. If it's plugged in, there's no reason to use the 'store' setting. That's usually only for if it's NOT on shore power.

Be sure to verify the charging voltage is not too high.

One option is Battery minder connected directly to each Battery, all Battery switches turned off, all AC breakers except minders also off.

That assures only minders drawing power, best option for power.

On my 2005 Damon intruder the converter is on the house side of the battery disconnect.. It is even easier to tell if you have the Intelletec battery control system.

Next to the USE/Store switch is a red light that indicates 12 volt present, With the unit plugged in the light should be on, turn teh STORE switch, hear the CLUNK of the solenoid and the ilght stays on it means the converter is on the house side,

That means it must be in the USE position for battery charging to happen via the converter.

If this is a problem install a battery minder or battery tender direct to the battery. Then you can "Store" it and they will maintain the charge (not much good at charging, great at keeping them charged For a pair of U-2200's (Six volt golf car batteries) you can get a good size battery minder/tender, like 4-5 amp (one designed for 3-4 batteries).
