Short DP with 3 Slides

Hello all. I am doing a little research for my favorite DP configuration which would be 35'-36' (or less) with 3 slides. I am starting with older models first (roughly pre 2008) because of a post I read that essentially said find the design you like, and go back in years to adjust for price. Made a lot of sense to me.

I have come up with the following so far. Please let me know what is missing.

34PST model - across the Monaco, Beaver, HR lines.

34H model - across Fleetwood Expedition/Bounder lines.

36LD and 36Rd models - across Winnebago Horizon/Ellipse lines.

T350, T536A and T351 models - across National RV Tropical/Pacifica lines.

Country Coach Inspire Modena (well I'm trying to be complete)

Looks like pretty slim pickens so far. Thanks for the look and have a great weekend.

Are you looking at some of the bigger dealers like PPL? They show floor plans in the listings.

I am sort of partial to my 2015 Fleetwood Bounder 34T. Listed as 35'5" and three slides. And it seems as though the F53 chassis turns circles around the E-450 that I had with a Forest River Sunseeker 2860.

I once saw a 37' Country Coach w/tag axle...now that would be a sweet ride!

Though rare,
Alpine Coach had a 34-foot, three slide model.

Not sure the significance of '3' slides, whether that's 'at least' 3 slides, or no more than 3 slides.

Tiffin RED 33AA is 35' long, but is a fairly new model so you won't find real old ones. Because of that, it may be outside of your price target range that you were looking for, don't know. Has 4 slides and is a great floorplan.

Coaches built 2006 and later have a ceiling height of 84", which I believe is 6" higher than previous years.

425 hp, tag axle, 37' - wow! That baby must ride like a Mercedes and go up 7% grades like a Camaro SS.

We have a 2013 Newmar Ventana LE that is 34+ feet long. It has a full slide on the driver's side and two slides on the passenger side. They have a couple of nice floorplans in that length in both the Ventana and Ventana LE lines. We love ours including the extendable dinette table and chairs with a credenza.

I am starting the search for our motorhome and am trying to define the criteria. It's a difficult task for me.

We will have a toad. Our travels will be a combination of interstate and rural road travel, RV parks and National Parks. It does not seem that we can get too big or too small. We are trying to find the right balance.

We are in the low range of price.

The initial search was for something 35' to 36' with 3 slides and a C7 or ISC motor. For reference, the 2005 National RV T350 was looking pretty good.

But then I started looking at the wheelbase at this size and it was looking kind of short. There seemed to be a lot of rear overhang. But I probably should not have brought up that discussion.

So the search will probably expand to something in the 37' range. I really think something 38' plus would be our last choice.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Might want to take a look at an older Foretravel. Our 2005 is a 36', 400HP Cummings ISL. Only 2 slides though.

I know you have revised your post to go a bit longer, but we have a 2011 Winnebago 34Y and love it. Here are two links from RV Trader to give you an idea of what they are going for and the floorplan (I have no personal knowledge or relationship with these sellers):

https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/201...-34Y-117946615
https://www.rvtrader.com/listing/201...-34Y-119169143

The second one has the booth dinette, which we find much more practical than the drop leaf and chairs like the first link. The booth is the nicest size of any motorhome booth we had seen, you can comfortably sit 4 people - and it has a leaf extension and two folding chairs to sit 6 in a pinch.

I read the same concerns about the shorter length / overhang / handling issues for short DP's when we were shopping, but we have not had any problems at all in this regard. I have seen more negative handling comments about the Allegro Red short DP's, but never heard complaints about the Journey / Meridians from this time period. Unfortunately, as you've discovered, there are very few DP models less than 38' these days, but it is a great length if you can find it; we routinely stay in Natl, State, and even Co parks with no issues. The coach is 35' 11", and we pull a 4800 lb toad like it isn't even back there, also have plenty of extra CCC with this chassis / house combination. Good luck in your quest, keep digging and asking questions!

PS: The 2011's have the PowerGear slides - the last year before the Schwintek fiascos of 2012-2015.
