On our friends 08 Monaco The only roof vent was directly connected to the gray tank.
Not likely - that would be a major violation of the plumbing code and RVIA standards. The gray and black can share a single roof vent, though, and that design is somewhat common these days.

That said, the assemblers on the production line have been known to screw up tank vents in the past. I've seen/heard of vent pipes that were so deep into the tank they couldn't vent once the tank was 1/4 full, or vents they failed to connect at all.

Great info from all. Thanks.

I replaced the valve with a new one and all is well. I do not seem to have any other blockage. So in my case, the improperly functioning valve also seemed to affect draining of the sink. The new valve also seems to have fixed the odor issue.

That's what I told her. She got a plumbing schematic from Monaco that only shows one roof vent to the tank. I spoke to Monaco on the phone and they confirmed the single vent. They later changed the design, because of the same problems she was having. Asked about a retrofit, they said yes at her cost.
