Silverleaf VMSpc & diplaying maps

I like the Silverleaf VMSpc I use and would like to display a map with my current position on half the screen, the other half displaying the Silverleaf data.

I think this can be done but I need some help in setting this up, like what maps to use. My notebook displaying Silverleaf data does not have a GPS but I think I can get a GPS puck and install it on a thump drive port on the computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a Windows laptop, running both the VMSPC and an old copy of Streets and Trips (since it's now discontinued). I use a small laptop however, since I built a shelf up in the front left corner post area, and don't want a big laptop blocking view out the front. I don't normally display both windows at the same time. I have each window just slightly smaller than full screen, one app in upper left corner and one app in lower right corner. That way it's easy to shift between the windows, and each window, when selected, is effectively almost full screen.

I have a separate GPS, and primarily use that for mapping. I only use the S&T when I want to see the complete multi-month trip route.

I used to run S&T on a separate laptop and display on the front TV for anybody in the coach to see our position on the trip, but haven't done that in a year or two.

I have been doing what you ask for years. I run VMSpc and DeLorme Topo US on a 17" Dell computer that is on a custom built stand on the driver's right side. I split the screen 25% VMSpc and 75% is TOPO. Works great. DeLorme has been purchased by Garmin, so I don't know what's going to happen to Topo in the future.

It appears DeLorme Topo US is no longer available. Any other map programs that can be used.
I wonder if Google Maps displayed on my laptop computer with a gps puck could be integrated into Silverleaf. That would require a internet connection.

Should not be a big problem. HAVE VM up and minimize to half the screen. Down load Google maps for off line, there are options to do so, get the GPS puck. Minimize this on the other half of screen. I use the maps on the cell with no internet when in the mountains. Without the internet you do miss someoptions but in the MH most of the time you can have internet with hot spot if desired and without you have most map options.
