Plan ahead, plan ahead, and then plan ahead again. We went from a 25' class C to a 40' Gulf Stream DP. Wow! what a difference. The biggest thing for us was the overhang and the long wheelbase. We have a bus type chassis, which means a long overhang in the front as well as rear. The front overhang means you have to watch your turns very carefully. The overall length of 40' meant that most NP's were out of the question. Most NP's have a length limit of 36', and most of the passes in the Rocky mountains also limit your length. If you are new to motorhoming of any kind, then you have to be aware of your height at all times, especially in the Northeast where there are a lot of low railroad over-passes. Width is less of a problem since your outside rear view mirrors are your guides, just make sure they clear. We tow a Jeep Wrangler, and we don't even know it's there, and because of the swing of the rear overhang of the MH it seems to clear curbs etc with little fuss. We do unhook in camp grounds however. In Walmart or in rest areas there is always enough room. If you keep in mind that you are driving a slightly undersize tour bus, you will do just fine, just go slow and take your time, do not be concerned with the rest of the drivers who seem to be in a hurry, they will have to wait. Go slow and try to enjoy the adventure.
