Sky3 WiFi Ranger, where is it?
I have the MH in my sig. It is supposed to have a wifi extender. We usually use our phone as a hotspot so I really didn't care. Became curious as I haven't seen it. Looked all over inside and I can't find it. Anyone with the same/similar unit know where it is? TIAFAH

I recently looked at a 2019 coach, not a Thor, but it was inside the rear closet.

Couldn't do it yesterday as they were only taking emergency calls. I already tried today but it was a 20 minute wait. I will call later today.

I talked to Thor today. There isn't anything in the coach. The unit is on the roof. It comes on when the battery disconnect is turned on. I am supposed to be able to see it as a network on a wifi scan on a phone or tablet. Well I can't see it so they say there is a power issue. The coach is going in next week for some other issues so they will have to look at this too.

I was talking to a Thor rep at the RV Show in Hershey - he had said the unit is on the roof and you put in your SIM card and it acts as a hot spot (I have the AT&T Mobley and he said that the SIM from that would work).
SO I'd guess you won't see the hot spot until you have an account with a compatible service provider and an activated SIM card you can plug into the unit on the roof.....I'm gathering......

Um, someone is confused. It is just a wifi extender, it's not a hotspot. It will just amplify any wifi signals it can pick up. You log into it via your phone or tablet just like any wifi network and then you can get on one of the networks it sees if it is open or you have the password.
I don't think any RV manufacturer is going to put something on the roof that an individual has to access to make it work.

I bought a new motorhome about a month ago and haven't bothered messing with the WIFI Ranger yet. However, I do know it has a SIM card. If it's just a repeater why does it need a SIM card?
It's my understanding it is a hot spot if you have a cell service SIM card (like a Mobley SIM) installed and just a repeater if you don't but, like I said, I haven't messed with it yet.

Do you have the Sky3? Also is your MH made by Thor? My instructions say nothing about a hot spot or a sim card that I remember. I will look again though.

OK, I looked it up on the WifiRanger website. I have the Sky3 standalone (according to my paperwork) and it is only an extender. There is a Sky3 Pack which also includes a USB cellular tethering option so it just depends on which is installed. I might look into whether I can upgrade mine as that might be nice to have.

Hi there--I'm WiFiRanger's ambassador to the RV community.
To clarify things, the WiFiRanger SkyPro has an option for an embedded SIM that has nothing to do with the "USB tethering" option which is provided when it s mated with an indoor router such as the Core. The SkyPro has the ability to house a SIM entirely within the rooftop enclosure and it can be configured for Verizon, AT&T or Millenicom. (See the attached screenshot).
Your router, which you said is a Sky3, doesn't have the capability to house a SIM. If you are interested in upgrading you can contact WiFiRanger customer service. But you should be aware that any upgrade would involve replacing your current rooftop box. The electrical connection going to your current router, however, should be adequate for powering the replacement device.
