Slide floor repair / replacement question
We have a 2012 Georgetown and have had only two issue with it so far.
Flakeing has just started on the captains seats which is a known FR issue.
However before our trip to the NC coast two weeks ago I noticed the bottom of the slide is splitting along the outside roller path.
To be honest, I can't remember ever looking up at the bottom of this slide or ever noticing anything out of place.
So I have no idea how long it's been like this or when it began.
I'm guessing water intrusion/ delamiation had caused this issue.
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone has ever had this issue & if so what was done to address / fix it .
What the cost was - ballpark.
Also are there any RV body repair facilities in the Central/ N. Central Ohio area you'd recommend or warn me away from.
FWIW- the seam that caused the issue has been located and addressed.

sorry you're having issues. Is there any plumbing in that slide? Or is the damage from rain?
Depending on how much damage there is, possibly adding some thin stainless steel plates so rollers are not on the white plywood. I know many Monaco owners have done it with great success.

Just looking at your floor you may have water intrusion. Take a look at Talin Guardian Plates. Home | TALIN RV. Also look up guardian plates here on the forum. lots of information to consider. I would also recommend you watch this video from Mike at Zmotorsports he does a great job of DIY fix with guardian plates.
Good luck with this. I'm thinking about putting some roller plates on one of my slides in the near future.

Thank you folks for pointing out these products.
I've sent an e-mail to TALIN to see if they recommend any installers in my area.
I called Luxury Coaches in Marion Ohio and talked to the owner.
He said he'd never installed them before.
I figured since they worked with ultra high end Coaches (&mentionrd Monacos) that they'd be my first call.

I don't know how handy you are, but installing the plates are fairly easy if you can't find someone to do it for you.

It's lifting the slide off the rollers & not having an out of the weather location for the project that has me questioning the DIY aspect of this.

Grumpy,
Welcome to the forum.
Getting it up enough to install the plates isn't hard. Cribbing and two jacks are easier than using one and looking for the balance spot.

How do you lift the inside edge up?
I saw a video where a guy used a crowbar & shimmed it with wood.
But they were replacing the entire floor without removing the slide.

I did this exact thing.
The rollers are adjustable: lower the one you are installing the slide ramp under and make the final adjustments after the job is completed. It takes a few hours of work and you will need to install misc hardware (screws outboard and L braces inboard) to keep the ramps from moving after installation.

The folks from TALIN RV got back to me and mentioned that they don't have "certified installer"s in ieach state & that most folks order the plates & find someone to install them.
However they did say that a place called Wilson RV near Sunbury, Ohio has installed their Guardian Plates for a customer.
Not a recommendation but rather a point of fact.
So I suppose I'll be giving them a call & see what they have to say.
Two things,
1) has anyone dealt with or have knowledge of Wilson RV ?
2) has anyone ever ordered Guardian Plates before ?
Oddly enough my wife suggested I just give the installation a go myself....
That woman has way more faith in me than I do .

I am Chris T from Talin. I can talk you through it if you want to try. It works best with a floor jack which is what I use to install plates. The CRP's ( custom roller plates ) are the easiest of the plates to install.
I am sure a Marine can handle the job. Let me know if my assistant Tabitha or I can be of help.

Watching the videos on Chris's website just about has me convinced to go the DIY route.
What jacking system should I use.
One floor jack?
Bottle jacks?
Combination of the two?
Two floor jacks ?
Does the entire slide have to be lifted all at once?
I didn't see the individual in the video shim or do anything inside.
Is all the lifting being done from the outside?
The slide I'm applying these to is 12' long.
And why rivets on the bottom vs counter sunk screws?
Just got to wondering while watching the videos?

The slide is lifted outside one corner at a time. When placing roller plates on the floor underneath you are only lifting the slide a 1/2 ". I use a 1 1/2 ton floor jack with a wooden fence post and a 2 x 6 across the top to spread the weight on the underside of the floor.
The reason we use rivets is screws do not hold well. I have removed a lot of other service center plates and they all used screws. Some were missing and some were backed out. The ones that backed out tore slide seals or on the flush floor slide got caught on the glide bar. The rivets once set stay in tact and hold well for years.
Hope this helps,
Chris T
