Slide out Awnings seams failure

My Carefree of Colorado awning, on my 2005 Holiday Rambler, over the slides that extend and retract as the slides move have failed. The seam that attaches to the dowel on the motorhouse wall side has deteriorate and detached from the dowel. The material is the custom acrylic fabric, not the vinyl. This side of the awning is exposted to the weather at all times. The other end retracts into the spring loaded housing. The mobil repair service said that this is very common and 7 years is about all you can expect from them. I have to replace all 4 awnings. I am going to spray sunbrella on the weathered side annually from now on. Has anyone else experience this seam opening and any ideas as to how to preserve the seam going forward? Thanks
