Slide outs

We have 2 bedrooms in our motorhome. One has a door for privacy. The other one is in a slide-out with a king size bed. It has an exterior door. I would like to remove the bed and put a hide-a-bed. I would then use it as a den. Has anybody ever done that before?

The question is, does your slide out mechanism (motor/rail/etc) reside under your bed?

If you are talking about a Murphy bed then yes, some RV manufacturers have done it successfully at the factory but one manufacture stopped making their specific model the Gulf Stream Tourmaster Constellation after they had multiple slide failures and frame problems due to the lack of proper engineering.

Custom Motorcoaches have had the Murphy beds as an option for some years now.

I checked the camper and there's nothing under the king size bed.would the slide still move even though I would have only a sofa-bed? There's casters at the end of the bed to wheel it out. As long as I keep the carpet it should work?
