Slideout cold air leaks.
Hello again all! Just wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced quite a bit of cold air leaking from under your slideouts and if so, what did you do to fix? I've already posted on another thread about all the minor issues I've addressed on this barely used MH so I won't get into that but this was one I ran into today while "piddling" around.
Inside at the bottom of my slideouts (S/O), there's just this rubber flap that is stapled to the bottom of the S/O, it's about 3 inches from floor to where it's stapled and it does curl a little on the floor part so it does form a decent seal. After really digging, crawling around, etc., I found several areas where there was no insulation, a few open spots, gaps, etc. where air was coming in. My thoughts are to put some type of foam insulation on the backside of the rubber flap and under the S/O. I'm also going to use some of the expanding foam to seal the areas where there are the holes/openings but none of this anywhere it might interfere with the S/O's opening and closing. What advice, suggestions or opinions can anyone offer? Just in case it doesn't show in my signature, I have a 2018 Thor Challenger 37YT. Thanks in advance for the help!

If u use the expanding foam it sticks like crazy to anything it touches and goes hard, so you are better off with regular foam. I have used the expanding foam before and had to cut it loose and remove sections.

There are different options depending on whether it is the slide seal leaking or other gaps.

Armaflex, which is the black pipe insulation. Get the one with the seal strip and sealit to itself and then roll in under the edge of the slide. It will also keep stuff from migrating to under the slide.

Your suggestion is kind of what I was thinking, although I was thinking of stapling or securing it someway to the rubber strip. I guess this would work though and just move with the slide. I think this is the route I'm going to take and see how it does, after all, it can't be worse than it is now and can only help. Plus, I doubt the foam would mess anything up even if it got between something as it would compress easily. There's not much under the slides it should harm since it's so soft and flexible.
Thanks for the help!

You are correct and I appreciate the advice. There are several places on my MH (and I'm sure others) where something like this is used; wire openings, pipes, etc., and it's pretty solid but if you want it sealed and it won't get in the way of anything, it would work great. I would only use this in places that are not in contact with the rollers, guides, etc. Thanks!

I am not sure about which slides you have, but I wouldn't want to take a chance on having a piece of the foam come off and get trapped under a roller. I would put it under after the slide goes out and take it back up when coming in.
