Slideout problems 2004 Winnebago

Three weeks ago we pulled into a campground and in when moving slideout out we head an unusual sound. We checked the underside of the slideout and saw a piece of hard milk white plastic about 4 inches wide hanging down from underneath the slideout. This plastic is the length of the slideout. We touched one end and it fell to the ground. The other end had to be cut since we obviously could not put the slideout in with it hanging there. We understand from the repair people here in Billings MT that this plastic was in place to protect the carpet at the slideout would come up and in and travel over the carpet. HWH and Winnebago both claim this is a Winnebago part that is part of the slideout. Our warranty company is tryin to claim this is not part of the slideout. Has anyone else has this issue come. This will be the third time we have had repairs done on this slideout - something different each time. We have also had one adjustment done though not quite sure what that accomplished. We have not heard of others having these kinds of problems with slideout.
Thanks

I am not certain what you are describing. Any pictures? The plastic that was put down to protect my carpet was clear and easily removed by a combination of cutting and pulling. Need more information.

Slideout 2004 Winnebago

The plastic that came off our slideout was thick what plastic installed by Winnebago. We are in the process of having it fixed now. The clear plastic you refer to to is different since we can see it from the inside the coach. However, the thick white plastic is not installed where it can be seen. All we know is that the white plastic is in place to protect the rug as the slideout comes up and in. Carl and Judy

The thick white plastic is probably polyethylene. A thicker piece of plastic (1" or thicker) with an angle on the leading edge rides up over the other plastic that covers the edge of the carpet. This causes the bottom of the slide to lift up so it doesn't drag on the carpet as it comes in. Some slide-outs use rollers instead of sliding pieces of plastic.
