Small Ceramic 500 Watt Heater for Basement?
Ran across this and just thought I'd check to see if anyone has used one to keep the basement warm/not frozen

I guess it depends on what kind of temperatures you plan on camping in. 300 watt heater won't do much to keep the entire basement warm if outside temps are low.
I took a new job in Northern Michigan and moved up there in late March living in my coach. I had limited power available and ended up running a separate power cord to the basement and ran a 1500 watt heater on a thermostatic plug to control the temp. I also had the 12 volt heater in the wet bay helping. I monitored the temps, never did get below freezing but got close a couple times. I monitored the temps using remote system.

Check that it will automatically come back on when power is interrupted and then restored.

I use personal electric space heaters in areas of possible freeze damage. 150w units, with analog controls (so they will turn on after a power interruption). Power them through a thermocube so they turn on/off with temperature need.

I run the 200 watt Lasko Myheat personal heater. Haven't been in super cold weather but if I was, I'd be running my Hurricane which has thermostatically controlled register in the basement.

I hadn't scanned the specs, but what caught my eye right away was the Australian and New Zealand receptacle style in the pics.

We use a 350/175 space heater in wet bay when below freezing out. Set high or low depending on how cold. I plug into the outside outlet on MH, but probably better to plug into 20 amp outlet on utility pole.

At less than 3A on high, it won't load your system up much, though if the receptacle is on an inverter, probably better if you do run a line from the pole.

With outside temps around 20 degrees, I put a 600watt heater in my wet bay and the temp inside the bay was in the 60's and 70's.
I have since purchased a 250w unit - along with a controller that will turn it on/off based on upper and lower temps I can program.
Unfortunately, haven't had a chance to try it out yet but I'm hopeful the 250w will be plenty based on what the 600w did.

I use one of these for my wet bay compartment to keep the plumbing and the tanks above freezing, 250 watts on high, 170 watts on low. Which works fine for any climate my coach will be in.

Powering heaters in the basement...
Yes, I know this is a thread from last winter. But, it is that time of year again and I have some related questions for those who have used the ceramic heaters.
We plan on some visits during the winter to areas where the temps may get down into the 20's or teen's. My thought was to use Thermocubes mentioned in previous posts and place ceramic heaters in the main storage bay (also houses the fresh water tank) and the wet bay. Currently there are no 110VAC outlets in either of these. There is 110VAC in the inverter bay next to main storage. There is nothing in that bay that will freeze, so no need for a heater there.
We do have gas furnaces that include a heat vent in the main storage. However, we just replaced the front roof A/C unit with a Heat Pump and will probably use that for heating the main area instead of the gas furnace. So, heat may need to be added to the basement bays.
1) How did you run 110VAC power to the basement compartments? Did you add an outlet? Or, are you running an extension cord (I would guess at least 14 ga wire)?
2) Any special tips/concerns about placing the heaters in the bays?
3) Do you leave the heaters connected while traveling?
It looks like a 250W ceramic heater by Soleil would work with a Thermocube, or a similar controller, in each bay.

I did notice that there are multiple Thermocube models operating at different temperatures. I believe the one that says ""On at 35, Off at 45" would be the appropriate model.

That's the one I use with a Honeywell Heat Bud. It has a mechanical rocker switch for High (250 watt) and Low (unspecified). 250 watts is just 2 amps at 120 VAC so its not much current draw at all.

It's in the wet bay. I have an outlet in the next pass-through over so I run an extension cord out the wet bay, underneath, and into the next compartment and through the pass-through to the passenger side.
When I ran the Heat Bud continuously on Low before I bought the Thermo Cube it kept the wet bay in the high 50's when it was 35 outside. Without the Heat Bud the wet bay was only about three degrees warmer than the outside air temp.
So now I keep the Heat Bud on High and let the Thermo Cube control it. Low might not raise the temp fast enough since it will turn on just above freezing. I'm was torn between adding another point of failure (the Thermo Cube) versus just letting the Heat Bud run continuously. I decided to go with the Therm Cube because those little cheapo heaters probably are not built for a 100% duty cycle.
I put the heater in the box when traveling but I leave the extension cord strung through the pass-through so it's easy to reconnect it at the destination.
