Progressive Industries is a good company. Any surge protector is better than nothing but I prefer this one, it gives better protection.

The down side to an in-line system is that if you have a surge and it fries
the protection circuit, you will be unable to connect to another shore power
source until you replace the unit. If you have the model that plugs into the
power source and you plug into it, then you will still have other options if
you have a surge.

Not necessarily. The surge protection feature is a separate function from the voltage and circuit detection feature with each having their own control board. However, if for some reason the processor should fail a bypass is available which will restore power to the RV with only the surge protection feature working.

In some models of the Progressive Industries protectors the circuit board(processor)only can be removed and sent to the company for repair or replacement.
