I agree completely. It doesn't matter if the rig poops out pure oxygen and water, it'll fail inspection without a CARB sticker.

I asked him how I was expected to fix it if I didn't know what failed. He said, not his problem. California is a challenge for emissions.
I had a smog licence years ago and with all reports the failure of a visual inspection will be listed there. Some are vuag at best and the smog tech was an @@#$% for not telling you why he failed your corvette.

I don't get why it fails if the emissions pass either. My guess is it is a CA money grab. I was rather upset with the news.[/QUOTE]

I hate to say it, but that's what you get for living in California...! On a more positive note, Banks is located down in Azuza, Ca. Why don't you just take the MH to them and have them certify that your system is legal?

It's not about whether it pollutes the air or not, it is all about the money. Glad Florida doesn't do smog checks anymore. The system became so corrupt that they did away with all vehicle inspections a long time ago. If a vehicle meets the standards what difference does it make as to what carries the exhaust from the engine to the tail pipe?

Yes take your MH to Banks shop.

And yes isn't California great, I drive a Ford F350 diesel truck to tow my
TT and it has to go in every two years for a "visual" smog inspection, or
as stated a money grap.

They open the hood, look yes you have a diesel motor and yes all the
parts are there.....$48.00 pay the cashier, thank you very much!!

The CARB number you need is usaually attached to or stamped in the collector or collector flange on the header. You will need to crawl under the coach to find it. Once the Tech verifies the number is valid it passes the visual test.

California is ridiculous when it comes to smogging a vehicle. A friend of mine just recently failed the visual on his Jeep because he had replaced the cooling fan with an after market electric fan. He had to go home and put the old one back on to get it to pass.

Can't wait to move out of this state!

I Passed!
Banks sent me an EO sticker and that was enough for Mr. Smog. I'm glad I didn't have to prove it was a Banks with SN on the flange. A rep at Banks told be he has trouble seeing the part # with the parts in his hand.

Thanks all
