I believe someone made a rear engine gasser as well.. No reason not to put the engine at either end no matter what the fuel. Epically with today's "Drive by wire" engines.. (Since you do not need a mechanical throttle linkage and all other communications with the engine is electronic)

I do like manual brakes and steering though, No "Wire" there.

Can't remember the brand but they tried and sold a mid engine 40ft diesel. It definitely flopped!

Newmar's All Star (ATME) was one, built on a Spartan chassis. I'm not sure "flopped" is accurate, even though they were only made for a year or two (I think the market crash killed them), because I've seen threads from people who are searching to find one of those floor plans.

Also, lets not forget the Workhorse R26 (UFO) rear gasser. It was used by 5-6 different builders in the 2006-2009 model years.

After a lengthy weekend of looking/prioritizing we are still back at the FRED with bunks.

My experience and observation is that there is an inverse relationship between the size/cost of the Moho and the enjoyment derived from RVing--A 25' class C is a huge RV in every country in the world except the US and has enough room inside for a square dance. A Ford V-10 will push one of these faster than a scalded dog, and will do so quietly and economically.

At the end of the day there is nothing a unit twice this size can do that a 25' can't other than chow up a brutal amount of money and make parking more difficult.

I was just at the Portland RV show and they had one FRED there. If you think size matters and that who has the biggest coach wins then I think that the FRED requires a REAL man to drive it. No feeling like a big coach with a big engine with a big hood and you behind the wheel. The only thing better would be back in the day with twin stacks blowing black as coal as you plow down the highway trying to catch the bandit in the Firebird with the eagle on the hood. Makes me shiver just thinking about it!

If it hasn't already been said, 100k can get you a very nice used diesel. My first was and is a DP, as I took some advice giving to me many years ago by my uncle that has had quite a few. My good fortune was to run into a needy coach with a motivated seller. My case may not be common.

Another good fortune for me is a very capable Cummins mechanic that bills me $30 an hour because he likes my brother in law and has known him for many years. Win!!

This spring, I'm having the radiators pulled, inspected/cleanedrepaired/replaced and every rubber hose and belt replaced. Also going to steam clean the engine while all is exposed with the radiators pulled. Also need to address a minor axle seal leak on the passenger side.

Yeah, DP can be more costly, but, they also offer much, as well, for the price you pay.

Mine is 15 years old and I'm sure there are parts and pieces that should be replaced now rather than later, when I could be thousands of miles from home.
