Soapy flood!!

Hi all - Just awoke to find a soapy flood in our back bathroom. (We have a Revolution 40E with the bath and a half... the Washer/dryer combo is in the back full bath area.)
We had just finished doing a couple of loads having done several over the last few days. The washer unit seems to works very well as well as the dryer.
The water (4 or 5 gallons) has the strong smell of soapy water with bubbles etc. The shower area next to the washer/dryer is where the water is backed up... full and overflowing. No trace of bad-smelling gray or black tank water.
We are in a campground with water and electricity but no swear hook-up. The plan is to leave tomorrow morning (today) and dump the tanks before we leave.
Any ideas? Any similar experiences?
Any help is appreciated.
Dave C

Your holding tank is full and backed up to the shower drain. You can't do many loads without a drain.

Sounds right to me. Check your tank monitor to verify. This of course assumes tank monitor is accurate.

I agree! We never use the W/D without sewer hookup!

I can sometime get a couple of loads, combined with showers, but then its done and I have to dump.

Clean up and dump the tanks is about the only choice you have. I wouldn't leave it that full very long, I never trust the fittings above the tank and under the shower.

I guess you learned a wet lesson. NEVER do laundry with the gray tank closed!

Thats like saying never take a shower with tank closed. Of course you can do laundry with it closed, you just have to watch the tank level and know your limits. At least for the Splendide models, they only use ~7 gal for the average load.

I thought I had heard 12 gallons, but not sure!

I just looked it up - 7.5 to 16 gal/hr so 12 is probably closer to average. I might have been thinking the dishwasher.

On our 5er, we used to do a load down the road. Hope to do it on this one too. Beats hanging around waiting for it at the campsite!

Well, you have the answer here. We don't even use the shower with the grey tank closed, when we're at hookups. To do so causes a minor amount of standing water in the small tub surround at the base of our shower.

I can only imagine what would happen if using our washer and not opening the tank.

I'm sure it would be as you found out.

Brad, Splendide says that is a HUGE no-no! You can do serious damage to the W/D! I would call them on this!

Huh? how does letting water collect in your tank vs free flow cause standing water in the tub surround?

When your gray tank fills up it starts rising up through the drain pipes. The shower is the lowest point, so it reaches it first!
