Soft floor repair - 1999 HR Endeavor Gasser

We discovered a soft section of our toilet room floor earlier this year. Cost to properly rip up the old floor and "maybe" get it completely repaired, $2,500 to possibly $3,500. The problem, the seams between the new replaced floor section and the old section also unknown where the "joists" are so between them not knowing how they'll make the two sections meet and the fact that HR built everything on top of the ceramic tile I have decided to "try to" repair this area myself.

It looks like the toilet sprayer leaked along the grout line to right in front of the toilet about 5 inches and rotted out an area covering about 6 ceramic tiles. Directly in front of the toilet is still solid. If you step in the soft spot you can feel it sink a bit. I used a vacuum cleaner and chunks of rotted flooring came up so I'm crossing my fingers this will work.

Using self leveling (maybe in 100+ heat it self levels!) wood filler compound that dries to an almost concrete like hardness.

Next I installed hardibacker so now the floor is level because the hardibacker is the same thickness as the cermic tile. When I step in the soft spot area now it feels solid.

Since I ran out of time to do it the install of the Allure flooring is going to have to wait until Spring time.

The shaded areas will all be wood type/looking flooring. The kitchen already has it, a Pergo type and the toilet room and bathroom are getting the Allure flooring. They are a pretty close match in color so hopefully it all looks good when we're done with it.

Kitchen floor, notice the old carpet, that's next on the project to do list!

Good job! For the money you saved doing it yourself, you would be able to finish the flooring and replace the carpet I bet.

That's what I'm hoping for. When we were given the breakdown of how they were going to do the repair it seemed to me that there would be more problems later which made no sense.

I'd like to find the previous owner and ask him why he was so damned lazy but what can ya do.

We installed Allure this summer, love it, anxious to see how it holds up.

I don't have any photos of the finished job yet, here are two of the floor during installation. I think the total cost was under $300, we kept carpet under the driver and passenger seats, living room/dining slide and back bedroom. We have the Allure flooring in the livingroom/kitchen area, hall and bathroom.
