Solar Controller

I have a Blue Sky Controller 2000e which is apparently a 2 stage controller. I understand from reading the forums that a 3 stage controller is much better. Can some please explain in laymen's terms why?

I am relatively new to the solar boondocking scene and am wondering why I would have been sold a 2 stage vs. a 3 stage controller? Oh, so much to learn.

Basically, the more careful, efficient battery charging, maintenance and usage, you can perform on a type of battery, the longer the life of the battery. Here are some links that will help you learn more about batteries and charging systems:
