Sony dash radio cycles on and off when turned on.

On my 2003 Holiday Rambler vacationer the Sony dash radio cycles on and off when I turn it on whether with the dash radio switch or the bedroom radio switch. One day as I was listening to the radio it just started turning off and on every few seconds and it hasn't stopped since that day. There was one day that I tried to use it and it stayed on for about 30 seconds but then started cycling on and off again. Now it just cycles on and off. Has anyone ran into this before? Do I need a new radio or is it something else?

Can you get a multi meter to the back of the radio to see if the power is fluxuating? It sounds like something in the radio is getting hot and shutting it down.

My vote is a new radio.

I got one better. I have a Panasonic with a removal face plate that had I never removed during storage. I went to the storage lot a couple of weeks ago and was hearing voices from near the MH. Thought it was the unit next door. I opened the door and the radio was on. Strange. Took the MH to my house to work on it and the same thing happened. I now store the MH with the faceplate removed and will be upgrading to a new radio. Any ideas what caused this?

We had something similar happening with our radio. I found the 12 volt wire was making intermittent contact inside the connector that goes to the radio. To troubleshoot the problem, I just wiggled the wires going into the back of the radio. Once I found the connector causing the problem then it was just a matter finding the intermittent wire. Hope this helps.
