In 2003, Tiffin did not offer full body paint on the Phaeton so the dealer ordered it in white. He took it to a local paint shop and had the Allegro Bus scheme painted on it. For 7 years we had the only 03 Phaeton with full body paint. My point is that a coach can be ordered in White and then put your own design on it. In our case it was the same upcharge as if the factory had done it.

I couldn't stand the all white of the previous units,
this one sort of jumped at us and it camouflages the size of the barn going down the road

LOL, Dunner! Have Miley design it and Brett Michaels do the work. You'll have enough bad taste to keep anyone happy.

My '02 has a few swirls, about a third of what you'll find on new coaches. Just enough to give it a bit of texture without being crazy. I like it, but if I were to repaint I'd go with some kind of two-tone with a single accent stripe.

Well, since this conversation is so heavily weighted against modern design, I'll throw a sausage on the grill in favor of the multicolor, "swirly" designs. I think it takes what would otherwise be a wheeled brick and turns it into a work of art. Abstract perhaps, but art nonetheless. Some are done better than others, but I'll take it over the alternative in every case.

RV paint

I saw a custom paint job on a dealer displayed Fleetwood at the Atlanta RV show in October. It had a lot of black and the wheels were Zombie paint black. I thought it looked baaaad, but it was a "no sale" look from DW.

Look!! No swirls.

One way to change the trend would be to get an all white coach and go to NYC and get some of the graffiti artists to create a moving original.

Here's a site to check out some of their work.

Dez Santana Photography | Graffiti | Street Art

This site has almost 1000 photos of unique NYC artwork.

Being currently offered or new does not make something modern. That's a specific category of art and design.

I would love to see some Streamline Moderne or Art Deco designs on RV's.

Today's swirls and swoops will be passe very soon and the next gen of styling will scoff at what we now see.

Specifically, I want to see real colors besides browns, tans and greys.

I have seen the plain white ones around Eugene OR when they are testing them. They look very uninteresting without the colors, almost ugly. The issue I see with some of the colors is the dating of the unit, remember Olive Green appliances or Harvest Gold? Teal strips were big, then creams and beige, now various shades of red are popular for stripes at least. The teal must have looked good at some time? I wanted colors that were as timeless as possible, I figured you can't go wrong with blacks and greys??

DW and I were driving past a dealer near Mt Vernon wa and I couldn't help but notice that they had a row of class c's all in early 90s ivory and subtle striping looked much like my old class C

Although we won't be going back to a c class anytime soon we both commented on how classy and clean it looked.... I guess old is becoming new again
