I grew up in Minnesota back in the 50s and 60s. At least back then those hearty folks, if pressed on the matter, would confide with you that they considered people who lived down south where it was warm in the winters to be lazy, soft willed and somehow morally inferior. They were sure that living up in the frozen northland and going through those epic winters builds moral character and stronger willed people who were all above average. Personally, after getting out of high school I moved up to the Colorado Rockies because they don't have any real winter there, just late fall and early spring. I became the black sheep in our family and no one could quite understand why I would ever move to a place with warmer winters...

55 degrees or thereabouts in Denver today. 350 miles to the East where I live, the high was 20 degrees. I certainly do not see anything wrong the temperature in/or around Denver certainly better than here or when it was a -35 degrees in Williston, ND last week where my son lives.
