Southwind exterior storage hatches

Hi all... New to the motorhome world. I have a 1984 Southwind with a chevy 454. All of the hatches on the exterior including the gas cap, engine access, and electrical have locks that I don't have the key for. I would like to be able to lock/unlock these hatches. How would I go about getting a key for this? Is every lock the same or is it possible that some are different? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome to iRV2. On our 87 Southwind, all the basement doors are keyed the same. The gas cover is a different key and the drivers door is another key. Anyway, you get the idea, just get a lock smith and he can make you keys in a jiffy. Not inexpensive, but the only way I know to do it. When we got ours, we had all the keys, so I went and had an additional 3 sets made, overkill granted, but now I do not have to worry if we lose a set (read that as wife strikes again ), I have plenty of backups.

Talk to some your neighbors in the campground. Many of the MHs of that era only used a few different keys. One of your neighbors keys might work and you could get a copy made of his key.

Have anice day - Darrel

Thank you. I'll see if I can't find someone with a similar model and try the keys, if not, a locksmith it is!! Appreciate the input!
