Southwind Power Problem
On steep climb my 2004 Southwind workhorse 8.1 loses power and gauges go wild. Seconds later power and gauges are back to normal. Anyone know what's going on?

Which gauges are going wild? All of them, some of them?

Do you see any flashing of the " check engine " light ?
What engine RPM are you turning when the problem happens ?
Does this happen on every hill, or has it happened just once?
Sudden , erratic , power loss and gauge problems , system grounds would be first guess , but only on hills adds a big ?.

I don't think the check engine light came on. RPM was 4000 to 4500 up steep hill. It has happened twice. Once on two different trips. Always while going up a hill. Was told it was a problem that workhorse had with the GM chassis, but I can't locate any recalls.

Welcome to irv2.
May want to check your spark plug cables for burnt cables.
Here is a thread that could relate to your problem.
Here is another possible issue.
The dash board display will reset at times a scare the bejebers out of you.
If it turns out you need a new display after checking the wiring plug in on back of display and cleaning ,plus you have a ground post on chassis frame with a bunch of white ground leads that may need cleaning under front bumper.
Replace Actia display.

You will get better responses if you post in the Workhorse Chassis forum. Maybe a moderator can move it for you.

I had the exact same problems, power, gauge and all , with my hold Winnebago, turn out to be as simple as a $15.00 fuel filter. Located on the inner side of the frame, passenger side in line with the back wheel.
