Sparkplugs and wires

I have read past threads on Plugs and wires for the Gm 8.1L engine. Does anyone have any updated info? After talking to several parts stores, I'am confused. Engine has 14000. miles and I'am experiencing power loss after long rides or steep hills. Need part numbers for both wires and plugs. Thanks.

Seems to me many of the wire issues are because the coach builder didn't design enough air flow around the engine. If you can duct air from the grill to the back and sides of the engine the wires won't burn. The plugs are the ones specified for your make/year of the engine. The wires should probably be checked first. Buy good high temperature wires with a lifetime guarantee.

This does NOT sound 'plug and wire' related... it sounds like a heat issue. Your plugs should be good for at least 50,000 miles or longer.

Agreed, that's why I suggested check wires first. If the wires have been bad for a while the plugs could get fouled, but with good wires and a strong spark the plugs might clean up, especially with a little cleaner added to the fuel.
