We have the stacked washer/dryer and our drier was making a high pitch sound when running. I pulled the dryer which weighs about 60 lbs. and is a one person job. I narrowed the noise to the drive motor assembly in the lower bottom back of the dryer. Turned out that one of the 2 motor bearings was bad. I found a replacement motor assembly in England and had it shipped to our home. Total cost for motor assembly and shipping was around $115. This was lower than our $200 maintenance insurance deductible. Fairly straight forward job with the most complication being the vent system. Took about 2 hours. I added small rubber insulation the the motor mounting positions to reduce sound, The bearings are made in Romania so quality isn't a high priority since the dryer was new with no prior use.
