Mine broke last winter in Florida. Tried to open the door and snap, it broke. They sent me a new handle with specific instructions on how to open it with a screwdriver there is a certrain way the screwdriver has to be wedged in against the latch, also I beleive they e mailed me the instructions what I recall its easier to just wait for the printed out directions. It took about an hour to replace, the door and glass has to be disassembled, cost was less than $20.

been there done that, you should be able to get a flathead screwdriver into the latch on the metal hook and move it just enought to get it to disengage, the replacement kit comes with instructions--one note, the metal pin fits through the spring as you're putting the latch mechanism back together

GG1 - Thanks, it's good to know that it won't cost an arm and a leg and that it doesn't take that long to fix.

TXDUTT - Good advice about the spring. Now if the CRS doesn't kick in between now and when I get the parts I'll be surprised.

History - Ain't that the truth!

Here is where you can go to get a replacement handle.
