Spontaneous Generator Startup
The last two days, my Generac generator has started up all by itself, for no apparent reason. Once while parked and once while driving. There is no automatic generator control, just an on off switch on the dash. My MH is a Daybreak.
Anyone else experienced this phenomenon?

That's almost as weird as that light on Mars. LOL
Could it be a bad switch or maybe water got into the switch making contact?

Some members here have experienced this too. They have posted about it, and received solutions that were correct. You will find them by using the search feature at the top of this page.

I have never experienced mystery gen start up. I have read multiple times of it happening to those who had driven in heavy rain. Apparently moisture around the electrical controls on the gen caused the start up.

It's nice people take the time to point this out but it would be even nicer if they took the time to include a link to the search they are referring to.

Hi jmckinley,
Folks who have had this happen have found the switch in the dash as the #1 culprit. If it happened to be raining when the generator started, the switch at the generator was mentioned several times (from memory).

wife and i came home from the movies one night and the genset was running. No one started it. Must have been spontaneous. Only happened once.

The OP has a different generator but by memory it seems like the Onan 7500 mystery start is not in the switch but the connector near the generator.
