Stacked washer/dryer vs washer/dryer combo

Looking to maximize space in the laundry closet. Are the dual washer/dryer units worth it vs. getting the stacked washer and dryer set??

Thx

I would keep the stacked units, the combination units may have smaller capacities.
If our combination W/D gives any issues will be going to the stacked units.

The stacked washer/dryer set seems to be very popular these days, and many folks have them and love them. We have had the vented combo unit in our motorhomes since 2000 and my life has loved them. They don't hold quite as much laundry, and of course you can't wash and dry at the same time. However, you can put in a load of wash, and leave the motorhome. When you come home it is not only washed but dried!!!! In our previous motorhome we only had room for the combo unit. Our current motorhome will take either the combo or the stacked units. My wife like having a linen closet above the washer though, and so is still happy with the combo unit.

We had a Splendid combo in our last coach (2002 model). Maybe they have changed but we weren't in love with it. IMO the separate machines do a better job but you bet they take up valuable space.

And are there better units available than the supplied whirlpool from a manufacturer?

If the space is available I would get the stacked units!

The combo units save space, but in every other way the stacked units are better. The combo units are less reliable, slower, have less capacity, and wrinkle the clothes badly. My wife wears she will never have a combo unit again.

Mine are Ariston stacked units, but my dryer is a 240 volt unit so I have to be on a 50 amp service or run the generator. They also make a 120 volt unit but it's slower drying due to the lower heat.

The combo works, but in most cases it won't be able to dry as much as you can wash on heavier clothes like jeans.

You have to pull out part of the load, dry it, then stick in the rest of the wet clothes.

We like the compactness of our Dometic ventless combo unit. The combo washer/dryer can wash more clothes in a load than it can dry. We generally have a decent amount of clothing that we prefer to hang-dry, like denim jeans. We set the machine to pause before drying, and the load always seems to shrink enough for efficient drying after removing the hang-dry stuff.
