Stair Interlock

Hi I have a 2007 Adventurer and I want to know if there is an interlock for the retraction of stairs so you can't drive away with the steps extended. The switch by the door if engaged keeps the steps extended all the time even when you start the coach and move the shift lever in to drive.

Engine running and door closed should retract steps regardless of switch position. Did somebody forget to install a wire or did it come loose?
