What's my best choice? I need to replace my engine starting battery... Do I need cranking power or deep cycle for this. I have an '89 Class A with Ford 460ci gas power train.

You need a cranking battery for the engine. Forget the amp-hours and look at the CCA rating. More is better. A 460 is a hefty engine and probably needs somewhere around 700-750 CCA to reliably crank it in cold weather. Of course, with an RV you usually avoid cold weather anyway...

I'll 3rd the above two post's. CCA is what you need. Nothing fancy just a typical starting battery that fits your battery tray.

I have a 99 Bounder with a Ford V-10 and I just replaced my battery. You should use a cranking battery with 800 amps or higher. I selected an Interstate series battery with 1000 amps.

Just replaced mine. Called Spartan to see if there was a minimum CCA my ISL 370 needed. They told me 950. Couldn't hurt to check with engine/chassis manufacturer.
