I have had my insurance through Auto Club AAA for many years it was much cheaper than State Farm many years ago. I still have my home owners with State Farm and occasionally compare there rates Auto Club is always substantially less. They have also provided excellent service I filed a claim for the motor home they were excellent.

Wow! We went with AARP - The Hartford 2 years ago after being with USAA for almost 30 years. The cost was literally half and the service every bit as good. Not sure what is going on Texas but thats is an ugly number!

I suspect Texas has a regulation that premiums can not increase over "N" percent for an existing policy. But if they non-renew and re-issue the rules do not apply.
I also suspect the same is going on here in regards to the ACA policies. My company did not renew the policy I had for two years, but they gave me a new one that is very very close to what I had but with a 35% increase.

Insurance is indecipherable. I'm not even sure insurance companies understand it. We had Safeco through an independent agent and got a big price increase one year. I had been using an agent where we used to live and wanted one closer to our present home so I went to another independent agent near by. They beat the old renewal quote and got the premium close to where it was before with SAFECO!

Progressive was almost $500 more than I currently pay, so no thanks but appreciate the input.

Looks like we will go with AARP - The Hartford.
For a 12 month policy to include a 2012 Ford Flex, 2006 Lincoln Navigator, a 1979 Chevy K10 and the 2003 Monaco Dynasty Countess III:
AARP-The Hartford - $1798
USAA - $3286
GEICO - $3447
Foremost - $1637 Monaco ONLY
State Farm New Price - $2445 ($538 increase over 2015)
So as you can see, State Farm was and has been a good deal but with the policy change they are now $647/yr more than The Hartford. I have also asked my State Farm agent to continue pounding on State Farm Corporate as I have until 2/15/2016 before the rate increase takes effect!
On a side note, USAA did provide a stick house quote which is $479/yr lower than State Farm. However, I need to do more investigation on the policy before I switch but if the policies are equal then I will move to USAA for the stick house.
Thanks for all the post and hopefully this will help others!!

Glad it worked out. Your quote from The Hartford, proportionately, is about what we pay for our coach and 2013 Explorer. We had a windshield repaired last year. No problem, no issues, no increase.
I smile a think - finally being old paid of for something. ;-)

Best thing is to have your agent shop them out every year. Ins. companies are not your friend.

Exactly, as no insurance company is your friend. If you believe that, your living in a fantasy world. I realized this several years ago and instruct our independent agent to shop every year, no exception, for rates.

The days of lifetime loyalty to one insurance company, along with the local agent, are long gone. We left USAA for Farm Bureau when USAA wanted to raise our homeowner's policy 300%--and we had never had a claim! They got around the state insurance cap by sending us a waiver form to sign that said we agreed to whatever they wanted to charge. When I called them to cancel, they were shocked and actually tried to talk me into staying with them! Seriously?

Agree 100%. Without a doubt, your worst best friend is your insurance agent!!
