Basically the same thing happened to us several years ago with AARP in Nevada. IIRC the rate increased by over 50%. I called, got basically the same song and dance you mentioned. Hung up called State Farm and got a rate lower than the previous AARP bill. Went back with AARP a couple of years ago after they adjusted their rates and they beat SF by 15 %. Upon the move back to Texas this past year, had to drop AARP again and go with an insurance broker as AARP will no longer write homeowner policies in Harris county. Without the bundle discount, it made individual policies to high. I'll start early this year an do some serious checking.

An update from my State Farm Agent:

"The rewrite of our auto policies is effective February 14th. Your Motorhome policy renews February 15th. Your 3 car policy renews July 08th, 2016. At that time a new policy will be offered."

As was said by Maxwell Smart on Get Smart, "Missed it by that much" :-)

So, for all of you other State Farm of Texas Policy holders the magic day is 02/14/2016.

It is not just the insurance company's gouging. Times are tough for a lot of folks. Suing has gone out of sight. My agent had a customer get sued. He had tapped the rear end of the car in front of him at the McDonald's drive thru. He damaged his back in a drive thru? Give me a break.

Auto Insurance Specialists just quoted me about $2000/yr, they are all expensive.

When was the last year that they put real bumpers on a car that could take a tap without losing any paint?

TexNet,
Like you I have had everything with State Farm for 30 plus years. When I bought a new MH just two weeks ago. I switched everything (Home, three cars, and MH) to Farm Bureau. The total package saved Me about $2300.00 dollars a year. With better coverage!
I brought the paperwork from Farm Bureau to My State Farm agent, He tried for a couple hours to get close and could not.
Farm Bureau MH coverage: 1256.00 year with (Million) dollar liability, to go from 250K to a Million liability cost about 230.00 more a year.
I live in Hardin County Texas (SE Tx).

Did you read what I wrote. He is suing for damage to his back, NOT the cars bumper.

I am going to review all of my coverage with State Farm. Over the years, I add a car here, MH there, no real overall strategic look. I was told by an insurance expert, that in today's litigiuos society, that you really need an umbrella policy that is the same size as your net worth. The bigger the net worth, the more your insurance company will fight to protect you, and that is what you are paying for, better lawyers

We had SF insurance for years (25+), wife was employed by them for (30+) years. I was also for 9 years and insisted that we stay loyal to them for all coverage. Once we retired and went full time they refused coverage of our RV, so we began getting quotes, the lizard cut the cost in half, so part of my retirement check from the Farm pays the lizard for all of our vehicles insurance needs. But we gave them a chance to be there for us, but they wouldn't cover our RV once we were full time. GEICO it is at half the cost before being full time RV er's and better coverage.
