We were in Memphis last year while on our southern U S tour. We stayed at Graceland park, and, although it was not the best we've stayed in, it also wasn't the worst. They did have security and we didn't feel threatened at all. If I were to do it again, I would probably stay someplace out of town a bit but this was a good spot because of the proximity to all the Elvis stuff.

My biggest complaint was that they played Elvis music all day and night in the RV park! I liked Elvis, but enough already!

We have reservations at Graceland's RV Park in June for 3 nights on our way to Iowa. We are also doing two nights in Tupelo, MS .... any campgrounds there that y'all would endorse? Thanks

I was just about to say the same thing! I stayed there in November 2016 and felt safe.

Though I have not been there myself, I have heard good things about Barnes Crossing RV park. Its right off Hwy 45 in Tupelo.

Been to Barnes Crossing. Nice place to stop. Do yourself a favor. When leaving Barnes Crossing jump on the Natchez Trace Parkway and head North. It’s a fantastic drive. It’s actually a National Park. No trucks or commercial vehicles, no stop lights, stop signs all the way up to Tennessee. Strict 50mph speed limit though. Beautiful drive.

Barnes Crossing in Tupelo is good for a night or two. Be sure to bring cash, as they didn't take credit cards the last time we stayed there.

We were in Tupelo Mississippi just a few weeks ago. We stayed at Tombigbee state park just outside of town. It is a nice place and it was very close to Elvis Presley‘s childhood home. The park is really beautiful and state parks are cheaper.

Another vote for Barnes Crossing in Tupelo, we have stayed there several times (yes, cash only)!

There is a very nice car collection museum not too far away and you must see Elvis's childhood home along with the museum. Don't forget the hardware store where Elvis's first guitar was purchased!

Safe travels!
Mark

I would not spend the night anywhere in Memphis in a RV. In years of carrying a gun, Memphis is the only place I’ve ever had to unholster it.

Wanted to update everyone. We went there in the afternoon and we're pretty sure that we decided to spend the night. There were several other RV there. It is far enough away from any areas that we had concerns so we did not feel unsafe. Furthermore they have security that roams the property overnight. Ironically, after having an early dinner at the rendezvous we decided to go ahead and go about an hour further west to our destination. It just happened to work out better but I would be willing to have stayed overnight there if necessary.

This is what the website says for RV's on the Parkway ... we are more like 65 ft with our tow. And closer to 46,000 lbs.

The length restriction for RVs is 55 feet, including a tow vehicle, and the height restriction is 14 feet. The parkway can accommodate an RV weighing up to 40,000 pounds.

Last place I would stay is Graceland koa. Sites are terribly small and was warned by residents don't go further down the main road as it was not a safe place to be. Graceland is nothing more than a cash grab. Be prepared to stand in line for the most part.

I recently saw a couple you tube videos from full timers that thought the same thing as you until the sun started going down. They said the atmosphere went from safe and secure to sketchy in about a 20 minute span. Once the store closed and the customers cleared out the local night crawlers started appearing and they decided to leave for a safer feeling area.
