Step cover problem

I have a 2003 HR Neptune. This AM went to close the step cover and was greeted by a load groaning noise and an anemic movement of the cover. It would only open a third of the way. Not sure whether there is an air leak or a problem with the mechanism. When I hit the switch to close the half open cover, it closed quickly with no noise.

Thanks for any insights on trouble shooting this.

Sounds like you may have something blocking the movement of the cover. I am trying to figure out a problem with mine, but mine is electric powered and it turns over the steps to make a carpeted cover. Wife is not happy dangling her feet while we drive down the road.
