Wouldn't it be soooo much easier to simply replace ur almost 30 yr old steps with totally new ones???? After 30 years, I'd say u got ur money's worth... New ones would be just that - NEW !!!! Plus - installing new ones would be easier that parting out ur old ones....

Be sure to completely clean the steps, moving parts. If you look online the install/maintenance instructions are there. They recommend frequent lubrication. I use Kwik Lube, available from Camping World. I clean first with brake clean. Replacement arms are available, just need to get proper #, usually stamped on the old arm. Replacement kits are available, got mine from PPL Motorhome, online.
