Step Well Cover?

We have a new-to-us 2007 Gulf Stream Cresendo 38' with a mid-side entry. The stairwell does not have a cover. Does anyone know if Gulf Stream makes a cover? I see a lot of people have an electric well cover. Can one be installed? Thanks. Carol

Welcome to iRV2.

Most motor homes with the power step cover the cover is the floor for the passenger seating, if the area isn't needed for footing while a seat is in use, manufacturers won't put one in.
S-I-L with a 2005 Tiffin gasser ( side entry) built her own manual drop cover , to keep her dogs from falling down the steps while the coach was in motion.
Conversion to a power cover would be very costly , requiring re-engineering of a section of floor and possibly the coach frame.

I built one for mine with a piece of plywood, 2 4 and some very close matching carpeting. It was easy peasy and we keep it behind the sofa when not in use.

Mine came with one and it appears to be factory install. I stow it behind my recliner.

Pretty easy to make. If you have the room, you can hinge it to one side and not have to worry about lifting and stowing it.
