It's always something! Just got the beast out of storage and this time the steps won't come out! We disconnected and reconnected the wiring harness to no avail. It's a Thor Tuscany and only a year old. Any thoughts?

Try lubricating every moving part, Steps need a good lub job quite often.

Just had a similar issue, had to replace the motor.

Motor. They're really pretty cheap. $80 last I found.

I would doubt it is the motor. Like said before it may just need a good lubing. Do you hear anything or see any movement when opening the door. If so I would disconnect the motor and move the steps in/out manually and lube them. If it was wet when you put it away they could just be stuck.

This is and has been an ongoing problem from storage down time. First make sure your house battery is fully charged. Then from the outside slightly open the screen door and close it, you should hear a light clicking sound which is activating the motor controller. Also look under the coach to see if your model has a light on the step frame, if it does it will turn on the lamp each time you open the screen door. FINALLY, the biggest problem is the GROUND WIRE, which will be or should be connected to the coach FRAME just behind the step assy. Remove that wire and use a cordless drill with wire brush/putty knife or anything to clean any rust. Re attach the wire and spray with undercoating, your steps should work. JMHO and good luck.

No noise whatsoever, the first time we disconnected they came out and back in and then died again. Nothing seems to work now. Thanks for the help.

Normally on KwiKee steps there are 2 fuses. But of course you do not list enough information. What does the product book inside your motorhome say?
By the way, some steps are controlled by chassis battery

Check to see if the light comes on when you open the door or push the door switch. If the light comes on the motor is probably jammed. If it is jammed you need to unplug the motor. Take the pin out of the linkage that connects the motor to the steps. Be careful the the steps will swing out when the pin is removed. Take the three 10 mm bolts out that hold the motor in the gear housing. If the motor is jammed you will have to wiggle in pull on the motor to get it to come loose. Check the gears on the motor and in the housing while you have it out. Reinstall the motor and hook the steps back up. It does not matter what position the steps are in when you hook them back up. Keep all body parts out of the way and plug the motor back in. Hopefully it will now work.

Mine have jammed at least three times. Since adding additional thickness to the little rubber stoppers they have not jammed. On my steps there are four of the rubber stops.

Motor was $82, check and see if you are getting power to the motor. Sometimes the door switch will hang up. In my case it was the motor. These are very cheap sealed DC brush motors hanging down in the environment. I suspect this will likely be an ongoing issue. I had the same problem with my 2015 31K.

Steps run off the chassis batteries, not the house/coach batteries.

Disconnect the 2 wire plug closest to the motor and using a test light or voltmeter check for power one one wire and ground on the other when operating the door. If there is power and ground replace the motor. If you are missing power check the connector going to the controller to make sure it is being powered. If not there is likely a fuse blown. If it is being powered you will need to check the door switch with an ohmeter or similar continuity tester. If the door switch is defective replace it, if not replace the controller.
