Steps on my coach (2008 Tiffin Allegro)

Hello - I believe there should be some method to leave the automatic steps on my coach lowered when parked/camping. There is "Step" switch and my manual says it should allow this but no matter how the switch is set; the steps lower and retract every time the door is open/closed. Any advice where to look?/research this?
Thanks -

May be a problem with switch or step controller. With engine off, door open and steps out, switch steps to off and they should remain out when you close the door. With door closed and steps in, switch off, steps should remain in when you open the door.

Start engine or turn ignition to on and things change. In that case every time you open the door the steps will go out, close the door and they will come in. This assures the steps are in when you drive away. At least that's how mine and many others work.
