Sticky electric awnings

My DP has electric door and patio awning and randomly they won't open. When you push the close button they wiggle but won't open. Wait a little while and they work. Is anyone else having similar issues?

It could be a simple alignment, slight bend, or maybe a burr in the mechanism. In the past I had an electric awning that would sometimes hang up when starting the extension. With an assistant I was able to identify where it was binding and I made an adjustment. In my case a little pressure with a pry bar eliminated the binding where the parts rubbed when operating. When closing there was no problem since it had the momentum going at that point. Turned out to be an easy fix after I identified the issue.

another place to check is on the shocks where they close up...for some reason mine like to build up a little gunk right there and I have to clean those up and put a little oil on them a couple times a year.

My awning has a "quick" connect type electrical connector on the outside of the coach next to the awning. Occasionally the awning will hesitate to open or not open at all. The first time this happened I started troubleshooting everything but that connector, finally took it apart and put back together and the awning worked. The last time it happened I tried cleaning the connector and then put some dielectric grease on the connector.

They are A&E awnings I believe. Sorry it was late when I post that. I'll can the exact make and model number tonight. The door awning has two catches on it that were causing a little trouble but I fixed that. This seems like a electrical problem but I'm not sure.

Lubricate with a dry silicone spray and make a slight adjustment on out current limiter adjustment screw on left end of tube with an Allen wrench.
