Stuck Window

All,

Bedroom Slide out window, which doubles as the emergency exit, will not move when trying to slide the window open. Now just to be clear, the "exit" opens just fine, that being the whole window assembly. It's the sliding window that will not move. I cannot for the life of me figure out why it won't move. I've tried WD-40 in the channel, a rubber hammer on the handle, pushed with all my strength. Nothing will budge it.

Considering as next steps, light gauge guitar string, if I can thread i through the channel to the outside, and trying to pull it around the widow, break any bond it may have. Heat gun to see if there might be something that would melt and free it up.

Has anyone ever run into this problem before? Get it fixed?

I'd really like to be able to open this window.

Thanx!

Dread58,
Sometimes a thing has to be "finessed" into co-operating... Instead of trying to force it "open" in one direction... try gently forcing it "closed" to see if you get any movement. If you do get it to move, check carefully that any security latches or aftermarket pins through the frame which may have jammed, have been released.

Hopefully, successive attempts at closing and opening will free whatever obstruction is blocking the window from opening.
Let us know if you find the solution to this little gremlin...
Safe Travels,
JimG

You are a "Good Man"! I never thought about trying the opposite direction... Banged on it towards the other direction and it works now.

FIXED!!

Thanks for the reply and help!

You might also consider spraying the track with a bit of silicone spray. That may help keep it sliding easily and freely.

Glad it worked for you, Bob!!! With doors and windows, it is surprising how doing a little finessing, jiggling, pushing and pulling will resolve a problem...

Thanks for letting us know you got it resolved.
Safe Travels my friend!
