2002 Winnebago Journey. Our Suburban Furnace was running just fine and then in the middle of the night it just quit. It is model SF-42. We have propane and the heat pump/AC works just fine. Problem is Spring is darned late and its getting down to freezing at night. Heat pump won't work that cold.

I have read all the service manuals but no help. Heck I don't even know where the darn thing is.

Anybody got any ideas?

I also have tried the search with no results.

Try the breakers first. Could have been tripped with a surge. The thermostat could also be the problem.

I did check the breakers. Seem okay. Thermostat works with the AC/Heat Pump okay.

What troubleshooting have you done? Is there 12V at the furnace? When you turn up the thermostat, does the fan come on? Is there any gas at the furnace? Did you follow the troubleshooting guide?

Thanks, I had an installation guide but no trouble shooting guide. There seems to be no power from the thermostat to the furnace.

I had the same problem with the furnace quitting in the middle to of the night. After checking fuses, gas, voltage, thermostat, the furnace continued to blow cold air. I had to pull the furnace to check continuity on the sail switch (indicates correct air flow), I did not have continuity in the over temperature limit switch. After replacing all is well.

I determined the root cause was two of the registers in the floor we covered. This caused the combustion chamber of the furnace to over heat. Hope this helps.

Try joining the 2 wires that go from the furnace to the thermostat.... does the furnace start?

Your furnace maybe below your refrigerator where there is a intake vent which can be removed and also a panel removed you may fund some fuses taped up if you have no power to furnace.
Another fuse would be on your main 12v fuse panel next to load center.

Okay, none of that applied. The Service Tech just left and the furnace is running again. The circuit board had blown. The furnace is not anywhere near the refrigerator. It is packaged with the water heater behind the right duals. The thermostat acts as a fuse and there is only one circuit breaker located in the breaker panel.

It is sure nice to be warm again.

Did he offer a reason as to why the baord was taken out?
Thermostat as a fuse? OK.......

Yep on ours too, under the fridge.
Copperhawk, if your somewhere warm stay there, I heard a big snow storm coming Thursday. Glad you got the heat back on.

We are indeed watching the weather with a bated eye. We need to be home in about ten days so hoping the weather will moderate by then. Meanwhile we are in Branson, Mo. where it isn't exactly warm, but a lot warmer than Minnesota right now.

Hey there Cooperhawk, glad you got your unit fixed. We had a similar problem with ours. It is an 04 Gulfstream Atrium with two furnace's. We were by Lake Havasu Az. the end of Feb and got cold enough to turn on the heat, our front furnace ran for about 5 minutes and quit, couldn't get it going again so I took off the outside cover and reached in and played with some connections, touched something and it took off again. Put it back together and it quit again, getting to dark to mess with. Next day pulled the cover off, took things apart to get to the control board and checked all my wires and connections as well as applying di-electric grease. Put back together and still wouldn't work so I played around with the circuit board and when I pushed on the main fan relay in the middle of the board it would work. Took the board off the mount and could see a solder joint gone bad, my neighbor had a soldering pencil so I gave it a good dab of solder, made sure it got right in there and works perfect now. Brought the coach back to Canada and the last leg of our trip home was well below freezing and both furnaces worked hard and long without issue. While we were in Lake Havasu I took the time to take apart my Fantastic Fan to clean it & find out why the open / close motor didn't work, turned out to be a wire come off the motor, borrowed buddy's soldering pencil and fixed that as well. Dealership told me they fixed the fan, all they did was wiggle the fuse, had to fix that too but all is working 100% now "knock on wood"

Just can't rely on a dealer to follow through with promises.

sorry I didn't see your post sooner, we had to replace the board on ours last year. Now we have the opposite problem, our a/c only blows "coolish" air and there is no difference in fan speed between low and high. Oh well if it's not one thing it's another, glad you got it fixed.
