Summer Home

We are fulltimers spending the winter in mesa az. We have done the traveling bit and want to find a summer home, which would be cool, but not Florida, and not too expensive. Anyone have any ideas.

We are currently in western NC and enjoying the weather. Highs are mid 80's, evenings pleasant, and nights cool. Prices in more out of the way areas like Franklin aren't high at all and plenty of seasonal campgrounds with permanent guests (roofed over RVs, park models, etc.). Somewhat higher in popular areas like Asheville and Hendersonville, but still not pricey.

Try Sequim, WA

Best place we have found to spend summer is Sequim. Small community but all major stores. NW of Seattle but totally different weather. Maybe 12" on rain annually. Very rare HOT day here in low to mid 80's. Almost every morning we turn on the fireplace to warm things up. Fourth summer here for us.

We have a place in Birch Bay, WA. Latitude 49 is an RV friendly gated park, less than 1/2 mile from the Ocean. Lots of single wide and double wide Park Models, as well as RV lots for your MH or 5er.
Park models for sale starting around 70k. RV lots starting around 35k. You own your lot vs. shared ownership. $80.00 / mo maintenance fee. Great weather in the summer.

I wonder what you would find in Northern NM/southern CO. I just looked at Telluride and it's downright chilly! Poking around more it seems there are places in that direction where elevation gain gets you cooler weather without getting too nasty in either direction. I'm assuming you may not want to drive a couple thousand miles each way.

I really don't think there is any better place in the US to stay for the summer than the Oregon Coast. Typical day time temps rarely get over 70. We purchased a lot (35'x65') at Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort in Newport and spend May through October there.

Ctpres... we spent a week in Sequim last month. Beautiful place with lots to see. Enjoyed it very much.

DW left out the word "next" winter in AZ

We spent a few days in Cody, Wy and really liked the place. Any comments on Cody for the summers?

We have a lot in Deer Park, WA. a few miles outside of Spokane with a 18 hole golf course adjacent to the Resort. If you don't plan on staying there you can rent it out.
My daughter has one next to ours and both are pull through.

Have you ever spent a summer on the coast of Maine?

Nope, have not spent the summer there, but have been through there. It is a beautiful place and I'd love to go back. We have close friends that live up by Stockholm.

IMHO our summer home is about as close to paradise as you can get. Love the NC mountains!
