Surge Protector

I have a 2013 Fleetwood, Bounder 35K. It has a Surge Gurad RV Power Protection With RV-C Can Communicaation Automatic Transfer Switch Model 40250-RVC 120/240V 50A 60Hz by TRC.
Question: do I need to buy an external Surge Protector? i.e. Surge Guard 34950?

I would appreciate your comments? Thanks - Tortuga Grande

From the specs and description for that device, it provides all the protection that other, high quality, external protectors provide.

The key difference between typical, low cost, transfer switch protection and external surge guards, is that the basic transfer switch does not continually monitor power and cut off the connection if it detects both too low or too high of voltage. Most damages to RV appliances is when the voltage drops and the user is unaware.

From what I understand of the unit you have, you have complete protection from voltage extremes, automatic cut off, automatic generator start, and automatic reset, in addition to the basic line monitoring for grounds and neutral. You need nothing more.

Of course rather than cut-off you'd have a voltage boost..... And it includes surge protection, polarity warning etc etc....

This is all I use....

No you do not need the additional Surge Guard/Line Protection ....you have it all incorporated within the transfer switch...surge, protection, transfer
