If you buy a 30 amp surge protector you will plug into a 30 amp plug on the pedestal. A 30 amp plug won't fit 50amp socket.
I'm not sure what glass is fogging up. We need more info.

If your RV is a 30 amp coach, a 50 amp EMS won't offer any more protection than a 30 amp one. I suggest you not just buy a surge protector but a full Electric Management System. You might find some cheaper, but NONE better than a Progressive EMS. They offer a lifetime free replacement, support and service. No other offer that kind of back up to my knowledge. Not only protects against spikes, but miss wired pedestals, Over, under voltage, etc.

I think the owner of Progressive Industries might be able to give you a bit more information on whether or not a 50 amp protector would be able to work on a 30 amp service. I believe he told me it would but memory is sorta headed down hill.
this is his e-mail and he answers them personally (or did when I bought my 50 amp) tfanelli@progressiveindustries.net

You need a 50 Amp Surge Guard, it will work with 30 amp power as well.

Our mh is 30 amp, but I purchased a 30-50 amp converter cord so I can still use my 30 amp progressive surge protector. As for your fogging window, you need to locate the source that is causing so much humidity. It may be that all you need is a dehumidifier in case there is no one source.

See this thread for info about Surge Guard products.

If you do a search on the forum, you'll find this story repeated many times.
Kevin-B, you are correct, a 50 amp EMS will protect a 30 amp also, but it'd be like using a 10 lb sledge to drive a finishing nail - - - way over powered.
The OP didn't really make themselves clear, we don't know if they have a 30 amp or 50 amp RV. No point using a higher capacity EMS than your coach is rated for, it gives no more protection. I wouldn't buy a portable EMS to do the job of a pigtail adaptor if that's what was hinted in the OP. A hard wired EMS is not hard to install and you don't have to worry about theft or weather.

It sounds like he has a 50 amp coach.
My Surge Guard staying inside of my coach's power cord compartment; mainly to protect against theft, but water damage protection too.

Is "i in a 50 amp?" mean a 50 amp RV or a 50 amp campsite? A 30 amp 'surge protector' will only protect one leg of a 50 amp RV, and at that would be 20 amps less than that leg might draw. If it's a 30 amp RV, the 'surge protector' should be adequate to protect the RV.

You have a 50 amp rig, so you'll need the 50 amp Surge Guard.
Your plans to replace the glass sounds like it'll work.
