Tach Voltage and Speedometer not working

Drove about 90 miles, spent the night, next morning, started up the engine and the buzzer alarm in the dash would not go off. Looked at the dash gauges and the noticed no rpm on the tack and no voltage from the chassis battery. Started back home and after about 50 miles the tach, voltage meter, and speedometer started working again. Got home and the same initial problem. Very confusing, anyone have the same issue and if so, any recommendations for a fix? 2003 38ft Monaco Dynasty, tag axle, 400 Cummins. Any advice would be much thanks.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

Don't have a solution for that but noticed you are kinda new on IRV2 and wanted to say hello! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

I would guess that you have a bad ground to the instrument cluster. Find the wiring plug connector that plugs into the instruments and take it apart and back together a couple of times to "clean " the connections.

thank you, I will take a look, I know I have good batteries, just put them in today. I'll let you know the outcome as soon as I can take the dash apart. By the way, I have searched other post and seems as the information is pretty much the same as your advice.

Agree, classic bad dash ground issue.

Please don't laugh, I think I have bit off more than I can chew! I got dash wires everywhere and have used a meter to check each and every one of them and still can't find the problem. Can anyone recommend a mobile electrical genius in Houston? If so, that would be greatly appreciated...…………

Go back to the engine bay and look at where the engine grounds to the frame, take it off and clean it and be certain you have a clean heavy ground. I had this issue on a Freightliner chassis at one time, gauges were erratic.
