Tag axle controller now beeps....

On my 1999 Thor Residency 3790, I have a Hayes (Kelsey) tag axle controller unit that seemed to work fine until today.
Had some work done in a RV service center and when I left to go home I realized the controller would beep for as
long as I had the brake pedal depressed or push the manual slide button.
It's an annoying tone, like holding down a button on the phone.
Never did it before today and the mechanic was stumped when I took it back.
It is a Hayes/Kelsey Universal Electronic brake Controller #81750.
Tried resetting the gain, resetting the unit by holding down the button until the lights flashed,
made sure the pendulum arm was straight down, and saying all the bad words I know.
I have the original operating manual and it never mentions a tone/beep.
Anybody else had this unit start making a beep/tone??

Found the answer to my own question.

The Hayes controller #81750 has a blue wire coming out of the back if the unit, follow that wire and you find a black fuse + beeper combo unit about the size of a walnut. This is the power wire to the tag axle brakes and if the fuse blows it makes it beep when you step on the brakes, to warn you that you have no brakes on the tag axle.
The same applies to trailer brakes use.
I called the Hayes support line and even though this is 12 years old and discontinued model, the man was very nice and explained everything to me. Great customer service.

So now we all know that on this unit, beeping with brake pedal means no tag axle (or trailer) brakes.

Thanks for the feedback. That's a problem I have not heard of before.
