Taking Rescue Pets in Your Motorhome?

Hi -
Since all of us RVers travel a lot across the country, I wanted to mention a good volunteering opportunity. It is called Rescue Rides and it is a place where people volunteer to take animals from shelters to their adopted homes, sometimes across the country. Each leg of the journey is usually 1-2 hours.

If you are an animal lover, please consider joining this page and giving condemned animals a chance to live.

I have ONLY posted this in the motorhome section because animals should NOT be transported in a travel trailer or fifth wheel.

You can contact me if you have any questions. or go to the Rescue Ride page.

https://www.facebook.com/RescueRides

Thank you
Julee

Now, that was perfectly timed! While driving to work today, dreaming about full timing it when we retire in a couple years I was thinking about something like this. Of course, I got this thought from the GSD Rescue FB pages. I know have this FB page as an interest. GOOD WORK!

Great idea Julee...

My neighbor does something similar but he's a pilot with his own plane and flies them part way and then meets up with another pilot who takes them the next leg.

I've done that in the past. Once, I actually transported a tiger cub from a rehab facility in MN down to the U of Illinois Vet School for surgery. I then got to fly him back post surgery. Unfortunately that cub suffered from a couple congenital issues and later passed on a few weeks later. I was sent a lock of his hair as a memorial.

Getting back on topic. I have 2 GSD and 2 big crates that are well anchored in place. I would be able to do a couple transfers this summer and could take 2 rescues at a time if I made a "empty" (without my guys) run.
