Texas RV Dealer

Has anyone dealt with Motor Home Specialist near Fort Worth, TX? I am in the shopping mode and they seem to have a large inventory of new and used RVs. I am out of Phoenix and don't mind having to travel to buy one. Really like what I am hearing and seeing about the Integra Coaches: Tiffin and Newmar are high on the list too... thanks, TD

I live about 45 min from those folks. I find thier prices to be much lower than most others but on the trade in side, they tend to stay around wholesale value or lower, no matter how good the coach is. I found the coach we wanted at a great price but when we visited, they offered us the very low end for our coach and wouldn't even look in the coach.

Thanks Jimmy and thanks for your service! I have no trade in so that should help on pricing.

Us too! We've been dealing with Buck Buckner since he arrived late last year, and really like Tom Yancey up the road a half-mile at Ancira.

Both are old heads who have encyclopedic knowledge of DPs and are willing to coach you on the advantages and disadvantages of various makes and floorplans. We left specs for our next DP with each, along with our phone numbers. My mantra is, "If each bus is priced the same relative to the NADA guide, I'm interested." That way, they can turn a profit on the power of their buyers.

Before you discount Motorhome Specialist, check the NADA guides. I've found that many of their offerings are being sold at wholesale. They prowl auctions, and have some rigs on the lot they bought for much less than wholesale. So, I imagine they could make a wholesale-to-wholesale exchange and still turn a healthy profit.

My sole beef is that their 100+ point safety inspection includes slopping on lots of undercoating. I found a Monaco that, with a little probing, was found to be severely corroded throughout the chassis. Another rig had some damage around the headlight. Someone had mounded duct tape around the headlight assy to stabilize it (the brackets were broken), aligned the light, and then sprayed the whole affair with undercoating. A thick layer of that stuff can conceal many bad things, and make future upkeep difficult.

But, they maintain a mammoth inventory and have a huge shop complex. As with all purchases, you just have to be careful. Ancira doesn't have the variety, but it still possesses an impressive array of rigs.

Try Ancira. Doug Barnett. Old, established dealer with good service. Motor Home Specialists is a high volume dealer. Remember, you can only have two of the three-Fast, cheap, or good.

As with any dealer "let the buyer beware" Look at the MHSRV sales contract--it states"we offer no warranty other than that offered by manufacturer"--NICE--My NEW coach had 6 year old House batteries (along with other parts)that were swapped by the service dept before delivery to me.Check out IRV2 forum under Travel Supreme=Entegra forum for better discount than MHSRV ----People say Robin-sales manager @ rv one sales group in Orlando Fl.-an integra dealer -has the best prices. (robinm@rvone.com)they have 4 dealerships IA.-2 IN NY. & 1 in Orlando Fl.---In my opinion Entegra makes the best coaches for the money 40 ft & over - for now-2 Year Bumper to Bumper Warranty & 3 Year Coach Net type road service warranty.
FLY & drive !!!!

be very careful it you are looking at a consignment unit from MHSRV. My friends have had good luck on purchasing a new unit from them based on price only as the plan was to take it back to WA so no comment on service. Send PM if you want more information on my experience on a consignment.

Since you are willing to travel, I strongly recommend that you check out Lazydays in Florida.... I'm from Texas about an hour from the dealership you were asking about, but I opted to drive to Florida two weeks ago and purchase my new-to-me 2008 Forest River Berkshire.... Fantastic dealership, great to work with and really work with you to get you the deal you want...

They have a huge inventory... Worked with a great sales guy named Joe Coupas...

Vogt is the Tiffin dealer in Ft. Worth. Ask for Colby Cannon. He's part of the family there. Shoots straight and does what he says plus some. 817 831-4222 / 800 678-4222

P.S. You will never find the level of customer/personal service that Tiffin provides from any other manufacturer.

We looked at both Motorhomes Specialists and Ancira when shopping for our new coach. We were very impressed with Ancira and less so with Motorhomes Specialists. We dealt with Tom Yancey at Ancira and had a great experience. My opinion is definitely be wary buying a consignment coach from Motorhome Specialists and if you do buy new from them - understand they don't have a service department.

The good news is that it's a buyer's market. I searched online, first for size and features, second for price, but what sealed the deal was the dealership reputation. I flew from OK City to Chicago last March to buy my moho from Charlotte at Abel RV in Bartlett, IL. RV Dealer in Chicago Area, Illinois : New & Used Motorhomes, Travel Trailers & lite weight trailers, For Sale or Rent Abel RV I could have gotten about the same deal in Texas, which was much closer, but I don't regret 1 mile traveled. They continue to help out when I called with a question in July and remembered me and my RV. I suppose showing up with a monkey sorta helped, but they are SUPER people and I NEVER feel like just another customer.
