I have not yet used my new to me pilot FJ charge card hence these two questions. Are you saying I will get the cash price AND an additional discount of 7 cents per gallon off the cash price when I use their charge card? Also, is it true that the charge card will activate the pump without having to go inside, unless I want a receipt? I was told the diesel truck island pumps don't print a receipt.

In theory - I haven't got mine to work yet. Its a big chore up front to get the things to work, then when I finally filled up my card wasn't "registered" at the store - PITA so far.

Yes, you can activate pump without going inside at most stores some may still require a trip inside.
Yes you get cash price.
Yes you get the discount.

This is with the RV Plus Card from Pilot\ Flying J. This is not really a charge card. You must pay in full each month.

I use the Gas Buddy App and it finds the lowest prices and many have details about each station.
Seems to work well and finds the cheapest prices out there.
I usually stick with the truck stops since, like many others, it is just easier in and out.

That discount is PER GAL. A decent CC will get you 5 cents per dollar, like Penfed CC. There are others as well. We use the Speedway TS as they are newer and smaller and don't have room for many trucks to park. They are 20+ cents per gal. less then P, FJ, L at same exit. Oh, and the credit price is same as cash. We generally get a net savings of 40 cents per gal. over the big dirty TS. jus sayn
I know, if you have $300k coach you don't think about fuel costs. Guess wasn't raised that way.

Hi Ed; What Spk64 said is correct and is a good deal. So my friend, a now former WCC owner, eh! Enjoy the Entegra and using those truck lanes.

It is great that the internet gives everyone an vehicle to express their own anonymous opinions. As for me I will continue to do what works for me. I don't support or complain about anyone else's choice.

Thanks for your answers. I know the P/FJ card is a CHARGE card and it isn't a CREDIT card. The difference is in the fact that a charge card requires payment in full each month whereas a credit card allows you to pay less than the full amount and be charged a fee for the credit you are borrowing. I was told that P/FJ will deactivate the card whose statement balance is not paid in full each month.
I'm still wondering about getting a receipt.
I do understand the concept of a 5 % cash rebate card being a better reward than a 6 cent per gallon discount, especially as fuel cost keeps rising. When it gets back to $3.00 per gallon a 5% rebate will be 15 cents per gallon.

You don't get a receipt at the pump at say P/FJ. You'd have to go inside. I take a picture of the pump prior to leaving so I have my own record of purchases.

Thanks for that confirmation AND for the great idea of taking a picture of the amounts on the pump.

With a range of at least 750 miles I look ahead with gas-buddy and find spots. For a difference of $35 to $70 less than truck stops I'll Un-hook the jeep. 5 min total on and off. I paid $1.99 this AM in Biloxi Miss vs $2.54 advertised at flying j.
That's over $40 difference...or like a free night at RV site.

Same here, FJ/Pilot, and use their card. Don't like Loves, some insist we use the RV pump...and that won't work.
