Thetford toilet leaking at the top where the water supply line goes in at the back of toilet lid. The spray connection isn't leaking but there is apparently some type of valve at the top of the water at rear of toilet. It always leaks for a few minutes when we first hook up our water. We wipe it all up and then it quits leaking and holds for the weekend. Afraid we are going to go somewhere and it will leak all weekend. Any suggestions how I can fix this?

We have a 2901 Baystar, 2010. The toilet fresh water supply leaks at the rear of the toilet on top where the water supplies the toilet. This is not the spray hose but the valve right behind the toile seat. It just does this for a few minutes after we initially hook up the fresh water to the motorhome. We wipe up about a quart of water or maybe a little more. After it has been hooked up for a few minutes it quits leaking the rest of the weekend. Afraid it will bust lose on a camping trip. Any suggestions?

would check to insure connections are tight first and secoundly install a shut off vavle in line to be able to turn off the water as needed

If you've checked the connections and it still leaks then you may need to replace the valve assembly. The inline shutoff idea is a good one as well. The parts are usually available at CW or other rv store (They will need the toilet model #). Mine developed a small leak (crack) in the plastic valve assembly. I had to remove the toilet to gain access to all the parts but overall an easy fix.

I recently repaired all the seals and gasgets on my 2002. The rubber "gromet" in the back of the toilet was leaking (not the valve). I removed it and sealed around the edge with 3M 5200 marine caulk. Replaced it and all is good.

If it's like mine the valve is the problem. You may luck out as I did and only replace the 10 cent O-ring in the valve and your good to go.

Had the same problem with my Thetford and it did indeed turn out to be the water valve at the back of the toilet. Since I was in Mexico, I took it apart and found that there was a lot of calcium deposits and a little dirt. Cleaned it up, can't remember if I changed any 'O' rings but I do carry a supply of different sizes, lubed it with Vaseline, and put it back in. Back in the states, bought a new valve but didn't need to install it for over a year and a half.
